Candidate Services Intern

Overview:
The Minnesota House DFL Campaign is currently seeking an intern for the 2024 summer session (June to August) who is interested in contributing to a fast-paced political candidate services department which works to help House DFLers retain or expand their majority in the MN House of Representatives.

Interns will learn essential fundraising, campaign, and data management skills that, upon completion of their internship, will have them prepared to land a full time job in a political campaign operation as a campaign manager, call time manager, or communications lead. Interns will learn to navigate Minnesota campaign finance laws, conduct donor research, manage call time, work with political vendors, prepare and send blast email communications, assist in planning events, and many other essential skills that are important to people hiring campaign staff. We are currently working from the office and require that all office staff (including interns) be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Minnesota House DFL Campaign is looking to expand our team with a hard-working and passionate individual who believes in making Minnesota a better place for all. This position will work in the House DFL finance department, with frequent interaction with DFL House Members.


Job duties include: 

  • Helping plan and execute events

  • Researching past contributors, potential contributors, and other research as assigned

  • Data input

  • Assisting staff with call time management with opportunity to manage call time

  • Assisting with general campaign work

  • Tasks for candidate campaigns relating to working with vendors and volunteer leads

  • Other tasks as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects

  • Belief in the progressive cause and maintaining and growing the DFL majority in the Minnesota House

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working in Microsoft Office -- particularly Excel

  • Comfortable working in Google Suite

Compensation: Interns will be paid $15/hour and may also receive academic credit from their school. The internship will run from June to August. Hours are flexible and will be arranged in coordination with House DFL staff and intern’s schedule; with an intern expected to work 15-20 hours per week.
