What is Plant Hope?
Plant Hope brings us together to help plant native Minnesota trees and invest in leaders building a stronger future for our state. Each contribution reforests Minnesota, advances climate action, and supports the Minnesota DFL House Caucus and leaders committed to improving the lives of all Minnesotans.
Plant Hope honors Mark and Melissa Hortman, whose lives were rooted in public service. After Mark and Melissa were lost to political violence in 2025, their children urged: “The best way to honor our parents’ memory is to do something, whether big or small, to make our community just a little better for someone else.”
That is what Plant Hope is all about – carrying their legacy forward through something beautiful we can do together.
How do we Plant Hope?
Our goal is to help plant 50,000 trees across Minnesota each year with Let’s Plant Trees, a Minnesota nonprofit that gives away native tree seedlings to communities and organizes volunteer tree planting projects. Long after we are gone, these trees will provide shade, clean air, wildlife habitat, and beauty for future generations.
